Any ideas?

It’s this simple. Mineral water is not mineral water when you drop ice cubes into it. That is of course unless the ice cubes themselves have been made from mineral water, but I would imagine the number of outlets making their ice this way are few and far between.

Surely the idea of ordering mineral water is to avoid impurities believed to be in tap water. Yet how often do we see bartenders add ice as standard to mineral water? Too often…and it’s wrong….and made from tap water.

How do you get around this issue? Simple. Chill the mineral water where possible and serve beside a clean glass (free of ice). Offer a slice of lemon as an accompaniment but DO NOT offer ice.

As far as I can tell, ice cubes serve no other use than to chill a drink, so by offering a pre-chilled bottle, you get around this contamination of the mineral water. Problem solved.
