Cocaine is spreading through society at an alarming rate. Cocaine treatment centres have either opened recently or been announced as arriving soon in galway, Cork and Dublin and considering the spread of this “middle class” drug, I’m sure it won’t stop there.
Some Publicans are going to great lengths to stamp out this scourge in their premises. Here are a few tricks a Publican told us about this week:
- To prevent users lining up their cocaine in the cubicles, publicans are pouring baby oil on the flat surfaces so that this can’t be done. Another version of this is that vaseline is being rubbed along any flat surface.
- Other publicans are ensuring when renovating or building that the toilet tanks are not visible but built behind a wooden wall to ensure that no surface is available for lining up cocaine.
- Some publicans are removing the doors from cubicles so that cocaine cannot be taken without being noticed, although I suspect many users will be oblivious to to an audience anyway.
- A number of Clubs have taken to positioning a member of security staff into the toilets during busy periods to remove any drug users.
Any other ideas on how drug use can be reduced in Pubs and Bars?
