cocktail training

Drinks manufacturer Bols invited 26 of the world’s leading bartenders to create a cocktail that they think best represents the spirit and personality of their nation.

Alan Kavanagh, Ireland’s top bartender was chosen to represent Ireland with his cocktail Mo Chara, which means “my friend”.

Only 10 bartenders can go to the Shake-Off in Amsterdam to take part in the final and become the Bols Cocktail Master 2008.

Help get Alan to Amsterdam in March to do his thing and become the Bols Cocktail Master 2008. Go to the link and vote for Alan!

Alan Kavanagh, Bartender of the Year for 2007 shares his secret for curing hangovers:

hangover cureMy secret fix to the ever lasting hangover is a family owed cure!!

1. Always have a packet of “rich tea “biscuits in the biscuit jar at home.
(Rich tea biscuits are a thin, round biscuit made from sugar, whole grain wheat, and water, almost like a cracker)

2. Take out 1 biscuit, and cover with cold Irish butter.
(Real Irish butter is heart attack wrapped up in gold foil with a picture of a cow on it! made from Irish cream and salt )

3. A huge cup of Irish Tea.
(If you dont have Tea, you’re not in Ireland)

4. Take the buttered coated biscuit and dip it in to the tea for 2-3 seconds.

5. Eat and repeat!
(Also drink the tea, its good for you.)

Cure explained:

Biscuits = sugar… which give an instant energy boost.

Butter = fats… which brake down acids in the alcohol.

Tea = caffeine …always good!!!
