According to Minister for Children Brian Lenihan:

“We need to find out why young people drink, how they are introduced to it and how they view excessive drinking. We will also seek views on the most effective way to deal with teen binge drinking.”

Why is it that Ireland and the UK have succeeded in developing cultures of teen binge drinking that goes against the cultures of our neighbours in mainland Europe? Is it because this matter is never discussed at family level? Is it because there are insufficient facilities? Is it something deeper, darker, part of our genetic make-up or am I missing the point completely? Feedback welcomed….
